Historical background:
The first prototype was built in 1989 at Uralvagonzavod in Nizhny Tagil and was designated Object 188. This was a converted T-72B with the fire control system of the T-80U and new Kontakt-5 reactive armor (ERA). Later, improved turret armor and the TSchU-1 Shtora-1 self-protection system were retrofitted. This tank bore the designation T-72BU, but was given the new designation T-72 for marketing reasons after the limited success of the Iraqi T-90 in the Second Gulf War. Series production began in 1992. The T-90 was first presented to the public in 1993 at the military exhibition in Kubinka. The hull is made of welded armored steel elements, the turret of the T-72, developed from the old turret of the T-90BU, is made of cast steel. The tank has the typical low silhouette of Russian tanks, which significantly reduces its hit area. Due to the increased weight, the performance of the T-46's W-72 diesel engine no longer met the requirements. Therefore, the W-84 MS diesel engine with an output of 618 kW (840 hp) was installed in the first models. As of 2004, the tanks are equipped with the W-92 S2 engine built at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant with an output of 740 kW (1,006 hp). In the course of production, various versions of the 125 mm smoothbore gun were installed. The most commonly used versions are the 2A46M-2 (L51) and the new extended 2A46M-5 (L55). The cannon is fully stabilized. The two-piece ammunition is automatically loaded from a loading carousel, eliminating the need for a loader. The combat set is 42 rounds for the 125-mm cannon, of which 22 are in the loading carousel, the rest in racks in open spaces in the interior.
The AMEWI Edition is a faithful replica on a scale of 1:16, delivered in a solid real wood box in the representative style of a natural-colored ammunition box. It is an RTR (Ready-to-Run) version in the latest version (electronics TK 7.0) and is equipped with an encapsulated metal gear, metal chains, metal wheels and metal swingarms for the impellers. The tank also has a smoke and sound function. Everyone (!) Panzer is tested for functionality and completeness before delivery. A checklist is included. Also included is an infrared combat module, which allows exciting duels with other models of the AMEWI Advanced or Pro line. In the event of a direct hit with the infrared machine gun, the hit tank "shakes" and thus indicates a hit. The tank can be controlled sensitively and also impresses with realistic sounds and many functions. In addition to the aforementioned infrared combat module, the T-90 also has a 6mm BB firing system above the main gun (cannon). All functions are fully proportionally controllable. Different sounds can be adjusted via the transmitter.
